Torre dei Lamberti

The original Lamberti Tower—featured in The God Painter as the inspiration for Joy’s home—has a height of 275 feet (84 meters). Joy’s tower is around five stories tall. When I was researching the structure, I came across several photos of the mysterious eye, but very little commentary on the subject. I was finally able to locate a brief report (“Keeping an eye on Verona”) in the Italian Tribune. Unfortunately, this article is no longer accessible. Plenty of photographers have noticed the eye, however, and have commented on its strange beauty.

The tower’s official website can be accessed here.
